Advice given to support my cause

Albert Simpson

Quiv: "Hello Chris,

You have spent a lot of time and effort over the years innovating and creating patents. In today's world, where functions are freely copied (e.g Instagram Stories .vs. Snapchat Stories) - do you think that a small software company should be spending its time and resources on patents?
thank you"

Answer: "Hi Albert: It really depends on your speed to market. If you think that you can grab an audience and a market in enough time in order to not need to have a patent, then I'd say focus your efforts on the product. However, if it helps your case with an investor, I suggest that you at least obtain a provisional patent for the idea, which lasts 1 year and costs a fraction of a utility patent. If you get funding within that year, you can then pay for filing a utlity patent. I would be happy to review your idea for patentability as well. "
