I've spent 20+ years building global marketplaces, with a career spanning the early days of AOL and Etsy, to the recent explosion of crowdfunding, to marrying innovative techniques with artisan heritage in the contemporary fashion industry. Currently, I'm following a passion for craft beer and looking at opportunities in that industry, as well as exploring ways to bring investment/monetization to individuals and companies with a for-profit social mission.
My areas of expertise include international operations, entrepreneurship, financial planning, market assessment, business development and team building. Prior Piece & Co., I led the technology category and international operations at crowdfunding leader, Indiegogo. Earlier I spent four years at Etsy running global operations, helping the company grow from $80M to $800M as it prepared to go public.
As an entrepreneur, I founded Economic Development Imports, a wholesale import company sourcing fair trade goods made by women living at marginal socioeconomic levels in East and West Africa. After four years, I transitioned EDImports to my distribution partner, One World Projects, and launched EDImpacts, a consultancy working with clients looking for both financial and social returns.
My early career was in strategic consulting and retail management. With two partners I built, managed and sold a consulting firm that helped traditional businesses move online in the early days of e-commerce. My professional history also includes work with Nike Inc., where I opened the first Nike Town and developed procedures to launch and manage retail outlets nationwide.
I have a MBA from Kellogg (Northwestern), BA from Harvard and have traveled to over 75 countries. I'm an avid outdoor adventure and craft beer enthusiast.
