I run Microsoft's business with Startups across the East Coast -- making trouble by helping excellent Startups disrupt the status quo.
With accelerators and early-stage investors, I'm looking for startups poised to break -- where MSFT can provide fuel to go further, faster, via any of our wide array of assets (technology, scale + exposure).
At the moment, it can mean scalable cloud services (Azure), dynamic apps which seamlessly span platforms + devices (Windows 8, Phone, tablets), our market-leading developers' toolbox (Visual Studio), or creative thinking about Office 365, Xbox or online advertising. Lots of ways to skin the cat.
Prior to Microsoft, I was Founder/CEO of HonestlyNow.com, a distributed Q&A platform. I led the vision and development of web and mobile products, built a high-end community of experts and power-users and was named one of Forbes "Ten Female Entrepreneurs to Watch" (2011), and raised angel/Series A funding.
For many years, I was a strategy consultant for both large and small companies, formulating and executing disruptive plays in their respective markets. I have been called a marketing ninja, moving fluidly from the very big, futuristic picture, to the brass tacks what-do-we-do-right-now. My specialty is....stuff that hasn't been done before.
The industries I know best are media + advertising, services, consumer packaged goods, and local. While I've worked for some of the biggest companies in the world, right now I am most passionate about making small business owners incredibly successful. It's what I grew up in, and I've licked 10's of 1000's of envelopes, stuffed mailboxes and cold-called. Whatever it takes.
I am also passionate about women in high-growth entrepreneurship, and frequently write and speak on the topic. My blog, "Mashups, Markets and Motherhood", has set off a number of discussions across the industry. It's not easy being a mom and an entrepreneur, but each is the best job on earth, and I savor every day.
